Jesus Christ is the world’s Rescuer — the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one, who binds up the brokenhearted and sets the captives free (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18). Some people think about Him very little. Others speak of Him as if He’s inaccessible. But everyone needs Him, and I believe He’s available to all who will come to Him and believe. He draws near to the meek, the weary, and the heavy-laden, saying, “Come to me… and I will give you rest.” This is the heart of the Gospel: that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, and in His love He stoops low to save, to comfort, and to gather His people unto Himself forever.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:1, 14
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
